This holiday season, travelers heading to British Columbia can experience a tasty and festive tradition. Canada’s National Gingerbread Showcase will take place from November 24 to January 1, 2013, with amateurs and professionals battling to create “the most elaborate, decorative gingerbread creations using 100 per cent edible ingredients.”
Taking place at Laurel Point Inn, there will be prizes for first, second and third place, and all donations collected during the event will benefit Habitat for Humanity. While the competition has been going on for four years, this is the first year it’s extended to the national level.
To sweeten the deal, Laurel Point Inn is offering a special “Gingerbread Package” throughout the event. The offer includes one night of accommodation, a special gingerbread welcome gift, gingerbread dessert for two in AURA restaurant and complimentary parking. This package starts at $124.
