How To Co-Host An Affiliate Webinar Step-By-Step [Episode Transcript]
While we often think about growing our affiliate income by including links in our blog posts and social media content, there are more creative ways to see success with affiliate marketing: like co-hosting webinars and other community events with partners.
Put simply, these collaborations involve creating webinar content focused on helping your audience in an interactive way while showcasing your affiliate.
But, how do you actually implement a co-hosted webinar strategy with a brand partner from start to finish?
That is exactly what weโll be discussing in this episode!

Example of co-hosting a webinar with an affiliate partner
Letโs kick off our strategy with a real-life example of when I co-hosted a webinar with Kit (formerly ConvertKit).
Here is how it worked:
Their team created the content for a free webinar on The Ultimate Email Starter Kit: Launch Your List In 24 Hours. This webinar was promoted to my audience of travel bloggers to help them grow an email list.

The webinar was full of powerful tipsโand, it ended with a pitch for people to get a free month of a paid Kit plan with pre-loaded email, automation, and landing page templates using my affiliate link.
Additionally, there were some other special bonuses provided by both Kit and me. For instance, one of the bonuses was something I created, a cheat sheet sharing my top-performing emails with explanations of why they work.
This bonus was meant to:
- a) help those who grabbed the free month of Kit see results faster
- b) make the offer more enticing
Okay, that was a lot of moving pieces, so letโs break down how it works step by step.
Step #1) Choose which affiliates you want to reach out to
You can start by thinking about tools, platforms, and brands you love and know your audience would loveโparticularly ones you already do well with promoting as an affiliate.
This is because youโve already proven your audience is interested in the brand, so itโs an easier sell and will make your pitch email stand out.
You can also consider your creator peers. For instance, I recently co-hosted a webinar with Pinterest coach Nadalie Bardo, who taught a webinar on the 3 Big Pinterest Mistakes Youโre MakingโAnd How To Fix Them for my audience.
It pitched her Pinterest course at the end, at a discount and with bonuses, using my affiliate link. We also took the collaboration one step further by making the webinar evergreen afterward.

Step #2) Pin down the logistics
This step involves deciding on several things, including:
โณ๏ธ The ideal community event. Weโre talking about co-hosted webinars, but maybe you decide that a co-hosted free challenge would work better.
โณ๏ธ The topic of the event. What is something your audience would benefit from learning that would also showcase the benefits of your affiliate partner and segue perfectly into a pitch?
โณ๏ธ The commission rate. Make sure your time spent preparing and hosting this event is compensated. Iโve found that usually, 30-50% commission works well depending on the price of the product.
Consider what youโd earn per referral and how many referrals you think youโd be able to sign up. Will the total predicted earnings be worth your time?
โณ๏ธ The webinar date and time. Additionally, pinpoint the full promotional periodโincluding when youโll invite people to sign up for the webinar, which should be at least 2 weeks before it takes place, and for how many days after the webinar people can watch the replay and grab the offer.
โณ๏ธ Who will do which tasks? Typically the affiliate partner will create the webinar contentโand maybe even provide swipe copy for promotion, especially if theyโve done this type of collab before; however, youโll also want to determine who will create the signup page, collect leads, and send post-webinar reminders.
Tip: I really like creating the signup page because it means I can create a tripwire offer, which is a limited-time discount offer people are shown after signing up for the webinar.
โณ๏ธ The tech youโll use. For the most part, itโll be something like WordPress, Zoom, a microphone (I love this microphone), and your email marketing platform, but you may also want to use something like Deadline Funnel to create timers that sync up across your emails and pages to create a truly limited-time offer.
Step #3) Come up with bonuses
Another piece of planning youโll want to do for your webinar is to come up with bonuses to make the offer extra enticing. There are different ways you can do this:
- Come up with bonuses for anyone who purchases your offer during the webinar replay period
- Have certain bonuses only be available during the live webinar and/or during an early bird period
- Have a free bonus that everyone who attends live and stays until the end gets to encourage people to stay through your pitch
You donโt have to do all of these things, but if you did it might look like:
- Everyone who attends and stays through the pitch gets Bonus A
- Everyone who purchases your offer within 24 hours of the webinar gets Bonuses B & C
- Everyone who purchases after the 24-hour period but before the webinar expires gets a discount on the product without extra bonuses
Play around with this and consider what makes the most sense for your event.
And if you donโt currently have anything that would make a great bonus, create something! It can be as simple as creating a printable, case study, resource list, or a bonus small group call that will help make what youโre teaching easier to implement.
Tip: You can also then sell this as a digital product!
Step #4) Schedule your promotional content
Remember, depending on how you divided the tasks this could also mean scheduling reminders to those who sign up for the webinar and/or post-webinar promo emails reminding them that the replay and offer are disappearing soon.
Before the webinar, schedule at least two solo emails that are 100% focused on promoting the webinar as well as a few p.s. reminders in your other emails.
On top of that, promote the webinar across your website, social media, and other digital touchpoints.
For instance, you might also promote the webinar in a hello bar banner at the top of your website, in your email signature, in your Facebook cover photo, and in pinned social posts on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X.

Step #5) Co-host the webinar
While the affiliate partner will be the main teacher, you should also be on the webinar to act as a friendly and familiar face to your audience.
You can do introductions, help collect questions for the Q&A, and answer simple questions in the chat.
Sometimes the host will also call on you from time to time during the webinar to increase your engagement, though Iโd work this out with them beforehand.
There is a lot that goes into hosting an amazing high-profit webinar, though one very important tip:
Donโt have an hour-long pitch. Make sure there is at least 30 minutes of solid teaching content so that your attendees feel helped and inspiredโwhich also means they’ll be more likely to make a purchase at the end!
Step #6: Host your post-webinar promotion
You should pre-schedule this promotion, but also check in to see how itโs performing.
For example, if youโre not making as many sales as you thought you would, consider hopping on a live to answer some FAQs or schedule some additional social media shares.

Step #7: Evaluate your webinar campaign
Once the full webinar promotion is complete, evaluate how things went. What worked? What didnโt?
A few metrics you might look at:
โณ๏ธ Attendance vs Registration Rate. Compare the number of attendees to those who registered.
โณ๏ธ Audience Engagement. Measure interactions during the webinar, like questions asked, polls participated in, and chat activity.
โณ๏ธ Conversion Rate. Determine the percentage of attendees who ended up purchasing.
โณ๏ธ Revenue Generated. Calculate your total earnings from the webinar as an affiliate. This information can help you understand if you asked for enough and can help you better negotiate in the future.
โณ๏ธ Post-Webinar Feedback. This is optional, but you might consider gathering attendee feedback through surveys or social media to gauge content effectiveness and satisfaction.
Additionally, you might reflect on a few questions, like:
โจ Did the topic align well with attendeesโ interests and needs? Understanding this can help you choose better or equally as great topics in the future.
โจ How effective was the promotion? With this, which channels drove the most registrations and were there any improvements needed in the promotional strategy?
โจ Did the webinar achieve its goals? And then building on this, what worked well and what could be improved in terms of promoting the webinar, engaging attendees, technical execution, etc?
โจ How was the collaboration with the affiliate partner overall? Did the shared responsibilities feel fair? Was communication clear and open? And would it make sense to collaborate with them again in the future?

Bonus implementation tips
Now before we close out this episode, I have a few bonus tips for you:
โณ๏ธ Before moving forward with a collaboration like this, youโll want to be confident that a large chunk of your audience will sign up for the webinar and buy the product being pitched. Otherwise, you wonโt be compensated for your time.
โณ๏ธ If you donโt feel like they will yet, spend time growing and nurturing an email list first. One of the easiest ways to do this is to regularly send helpful strategies and tips related to your niche so that your subscribers feel helped by you. Then in the future, when you invite them to a webinar, theyโll want to learn more from you.
โณ๏ธ Do you have a product of your own? Reverse the strategy and reach out to affiliates to collaborate on a webinar that you teach for their audience using their affiliate link!
