Flight Delayed? Here’s How To Get Reimbursed For Your Troubles

By Daniela Frendo  We all experience them, but to varying degrees. Flight delays are sometimes more than just a mere inconvenience; they can disrupt business meetings, ruin a long-planned trip and eat up most of our holiday savings. According to European Regulation EC 261/04, a passenger is entitled to a reimbursement of up to €600 (~$638 USD) if a flight is delayed for over three hours. However, compensation claims can take long to process, and not all airlines are willing to reimburse their customers for delayed flights. Thankfully, help is only a few clicks away. Many legal firms specializing in consumer rights are now offering easier and more effective ways for passengers to secure compensation for flight delays. So if you’ve recently been stuck at the airport for long hours and had your holiday plans messed up, the following resources will guide you through a hassle-free refund claim from your airline.

1. Bott & Co Solicitors

Bott & Co Solicitors is a leading legal firm in offering flight delay compensation service, claiming a 99% success rate in winning claims. The company’s website offers an incredibly easy way of submitting a claim. All you have to do is enter your flight number and date of departure into their flight claim checker in four quick steps. Once your flight details have been reviewed, you’ll get to know whether you have a valid claim for compensation, and if so, the sum that you are legally entitled to. There’s no fee for using the flight claim checker, and the company works on a “no win no fee” basis.

2. AirHelp

Founded in 2013, AirHelp Inc has already come a long way in helping air passengers get the compensation they deserve for delayed and cancelled flights. Their website gives a detailed outline of your rights as an air passenger when it comes to getting reimbursed for flight cancellations, delays and overbooking. AirHelp’s free mobile app enables stranded passengers to make their claim at the airport in a simple five-step process. You can even file a claim on delayed or cancelled flights from several years ago. AirHelp also operates on a “no win no fee” policy.

3. refund.me

European-based refund.me is a service company made up of an international team of legal experts specialising in passenger rights. The website offers an interactive guide that helps you check if you’re eligible for compensation on delayed or cancelled flights. Another company that handles claims on a “no win no fee” policy, refund.me has a 98% success rate in court cases and a five-star rating based on over 100 reviews.

4. Green Claim

Available in six languages, Green Claim offers legal support based on the European Legislation on flight compensation. The company also offers a free-of-charge service for air passengers to submit their flight details and check their compensation. Green Claim has helped passengers file compensation claims with over a 100 airlines, winning 98% of court cases. Just like all of the previous resources , Green Claim covers all legal fees and exercises a ‘no win no fee’ policy.

Love this article. Sending to as many people I know who travel often. I had no idea that you could even be compensated for delays. Thanks for writing this and informing me!

If one’s flight is delayed due to the fault of the airline, mechanical, personal problems , etc. they will automatically reschedule you on the next best option , even if it means another carrier.
If the delay is due to weather, it is out of their control.
