Packing clothes and travel accessories that are both fashionable and practical can be challenging. How often have you returned to your hotel room to change into a nice outfit for the evening, only to spend the next few minutes gawking at the practical but uninspiring clothes filling up your suitcase?
Recently, online luxury fashion retailer Orchard Mile asked Jessie on a Journey to talk about stylish yet practical travel items for female travelers to pack. See the response below, and also check out Orchard Mile’s website for some awesome travel accessories, outfits and bags, not to mention gifts for the upcoming holidays!
1. Flat Pumps
A comfy pair of flat pumps should always be at the top of your packing list. They may not be the best shoes to wear when exploring cobbled streets or hiking up hills, but nothing beats slipping into comfortable ballet flats after a day’s walk. Besides looking great with any casual or smart attire, flat pumps are also “airport-friendly” – they’re the most practical shoes you can wear for going through airport security. Oh, and they’re light to pack too!
Go for neutral shoes if you want to wear the same pair with every outfit. Alternatively, you can pack a colorful pair of flats to brighten up your look.
2. Leather Leggings
Warm leggings are normally very practical when traveling to cold countries, but leather ones? If you’re planning a few nights out, a pair of black leather leggings worn under a cute dress or a flowy top is all you need for a simple yet edgy look. These eco-leather leggings by Orchard Mile have a leather front and a ponte back, which means they’re also great to wear during the day.
Unlike denim pants, leather leggings hardly take up any room in your suitcase, allowing you enough space to pack more than one pair.Want to #travel in #style? Here are 5 #stylish & #practical items you need to pack. Click To Tweet
3. A Quirky Kimono
No, they’re not something you pack only if you’re heading to Japan. Kimonos are the perfect alternative to boring cardigans and jackets. You can pack a lightweight kimono to throw over a pair of jeans and a tee, adding a bit of style to a very casual look. It is also an ideal item to pack when traveling in summer and want to have something to wrap around you in case it gets a bit breezy.
If you’re traveling to cold countries, you can still take a kimono with you and wear it under a thick jacket. You will be thankful for that extra layer of insulation!
4. A Sleek Belt Bag
Fanny packs are one of the most hated travel accessories. But let’s face it — they’re quite practical. If you’re one of those people who wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a bum bag, this chic Orchard Mile belt bag might make you change your mind.
Forget about the tacky waist bags you find in tourist shops. If you want to invest in a good-quality and stylish belt bag, look for an elegant one with safe zippers. Wearing a belt bag is great way to keep your money and other belongings safe while exploring cities or enjoying a night out in a crowded place.
5. A Colorful Pashmina Shawl
Unlike belt bags, pashmina shawls are an all-time favorite item for many women travelers. They’re also one of the most practical items you can have when traveling. You can use a pashmina as a lightweight scarf, or to cover your hair and exposed shoulders when entering religious sites to be respectful as a visitor. Shawls can also double as a blanket on the plane or overnight bus journeys.
Pashmina scarves with colorful prints and intricate patterns can completely transform an outfit from drab to fab.
