For those traveling on a budget, there are many worthwhile and free things to do in Las Vegas. To help make your trip to Sin City fun without breaking the bank, add these suggestions to your itinerary:

Dancing Fountains, Chocolate And Botanical Gardens

For a free day in Vegas, head straight to the Bellagio, as they offer an array of free experiences. Start by wandering their Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, an indoor-outdoor wonderland. Along with beautiful flowers and meticulously manicured gardens there are gazebos, bridges, ponds and butterflies. Moreover, outside their dancing fountains put on a show as the water actually performs a choreographed routine to music and light. And for a tasty surprise, check out the Bellagio’s chocolate fountain in Jean-Philippe Patisserie. At 26’3”, it was named the “World’s Tallest Chocolate Fountain” by Guinness World Records.

White Tigers, Volcanic Eruptions And Sharks

The Mirage is another popular Las Vegas hotel offering numerous free attractions. Gaze upon the man-made rainforest of waterfalls, lagoons and exotic flowers in The Atrium for an enchanting time. After taking in flora, view fauna at The Mirage Aquarium, which features a 20,000 gallon tank showcasing hundreds of fish, sharks, stingrays, eels and other marine life. For a view of some of land’s most beautiful animals, check out the exotic white tigers used by Siegfried and Roy in their show in the hotel lobby. And outside starting at 5pm and running every hour until 11pm you can see The Volcano, a show featuring explosions and fireballs to a soundtrack from The Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart and Indian tabla sensation Zakir Hussain. If you’re not one for intense heat and high energy, watch the show from the Venetian Hotel for a great view with smaller crowds.

High-Wire Circus Acts

Starting at 11am daily, you can head to Circus Circus Casino to check out the world’s largest permanent circus. Viewers will take in all types of acts from trapeze to juggling to contortion. Some not-to-miss performances and performers include “Flying Angels,” a flying trapeze act featuring three flying females and a male catcher, Veronika, an Aerial Silk artist from Italy, Zuma-Zuma, an acrobat from Kenya and Raul Cubillos, a renowned juggler from Argentina who uses clubs, balls and hoops in his act.

History, Culture And Learning

Just because you’re in Sin City doesn’t mean you can’t do something educational, especially when it’s fun and free. Start by learning how to make chocolate at the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory. Tour the factory, get involved and even enjoy a free sample. If you want to walk off the sweet treat you can visit the impressive Botanical Cactus Garden next door. To educate yourself on Western culture, desert life and the history of ancient Mexico, stop in the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. Along with artifacts, art and information, the museum showcases objects used for sacrifices and rituals. Additionally, the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center provides information and interpretation on local geology and wildlife as well as a scenic outlook worth a stop.

A Masquerade Show In The Sky

At the Rio Casino, visitors can see “A Masquarade Show In The Sky,” a sultry and exciting show featuring talented dancers in Victoria Secret-esque costume. The music is edgy, the energy is high and the fantasy float that glides above your head is astounding. You can see the show performed hourly from 6pm until 11pm every Thursday through Saturday.

The City Center also has one of the largest public art collections on display which is free to check out. Last summer, the Cosmo has Dive in Movies where you can watch a movie on the marquee and hang out at the pool.
